I just encountered "Memphis Blues" quite by accident by running an Internet search. Laughed for a long time. You see, I just escaped BACK to Chicago three weeks ago after having lived in Memphis for three very long years. My sanity is coming back piece by piece.

Hello from Denmark, Kansas...just was told about your website having pictures of Hanston Kansas on them...and since I grew up there, I was wondering your connections.

My family, the Lupfers farm about three miles to the west of Hanston. My dad went to high school in Jetmore, but all my siblings and I went to Hanston. However, my youngest brother's son, who is a senior this year, will be in the last graduating class there.

If you are interested in the Mudge Ranch^B, I have an article in the Kansas Historical Society magazine from a few years back that I could copy for you . . . my grandfather's old girlfriend Maggie Caldwell wrote the story. Thanks for putting some Hanston pictures up on the web.

Hello,
My husband Oscar and I bought the old Hernando's Hideaway night club in Jan. 2005.
We only open on Friday and Sat. night until July 1st.
Alot of people in Memphis don't realize the Hideaway is still open. We plan to do alot of things with it but advertising is sooo expensive. Maybe we can squeez it in our budget in July.

. . . it is late, I couldn't sleep so I visited your web site to dream. I write to you to say, "thanks" I've enjoyed your stories very much. When I visit Mexico, I too am looking for much in the same. Although these stories are written with a lean on the rod, all the same elements are there. Anyway, I'm just writing to say, "thanks again" and I really really appreciate it. I've been reading Bill Valentine's book since it came out, it's dandy and I enjoy that sort of thing. I've been down to Kino but mostly to the beaches and estuaries around Puerto Penasco. In my youth, I explored the Pacific coast of upper Baja on surf patrol. As a fisher and kite surfer as well as an adventurist, unfortunately for you, I am headed toward your areas. I promise not to bother you if we cross paths. I'll be the one with the huge kites or fishing at the edge.

I don't know how I happened upon your web-diary but I couldn't believe my eyes. How is your wife's ankle? I'm a 32 (31 at the time), stay-at-home mom of a 3 year old. On January 14, 2005 we had a lot of ice on the ground here in Iowa. I was putting ice melt onto the driveway of our elderly neighbors. I came back to get the second bag of ice melt when I fell and broke my ankle in almost the exact way your wife broke hers! I saw the x-ray that you had posted and had to pull out mine to make sure that wasn't my own x-ray!

Hi,
I've enjoyed reading your stories! I have been visiting the area around Desenboque for a few years and have always wondered if you could take the beach south from there to Puerto Lobos. If I understand your story regarding, I would take the road east off of the paved Why to Desenboque road labeled Barra Tanque. Continue on this until a fork with a sign again reading Barra Tanque. Do you know how the path is from there to Puerto Lobos? I usually go down with several friend who live in Puerto Penasco and we all have either 4wd or buggies. We are going to drive form Puerto Penasco to El Golfo (a trip we've done twice a year for the last 8 years) this coming May 24th and we'd like to try the Puerto Lobos run after returning form El Golfo sometime around May 28th. I would appreciate any info.

What a treat for me as I was "googling" today and came up with the great pictures from Grandpa Koontz'/Uncle Loren's farm. It has been awhile since I have been there but it has not changed much since I was so it brought back some great memories for me. Thanks for putting that together for all to enjoy.

I hope that the cousins can keep the Koontz reunion going. It seems to get harder and harder to do as we lose the Aunts and Uncles and those that really did a lot to pull it together.
